Description

The impressive Large Overlap Cold Frame from Forest has a generous amount of room that will house any plants that are ready to be moved out of the greenhouse and into your garden.

Cold frames are used as the stepping stone for young plants between growing in a greenhouse to being transferred outdoors: if a plant is moved straight outside into the cold it can stunt its growth, so a cold frame is a great way to ease it into life in the cold.

The cold frame is manufactured using an overlap construction that allows for flexibility and movement of the timber during changing temperatures. The timber used has been pressure treated to give it a 15-year guarantee against rot.

The acrylic glazing of this cold frame is a safer alternative to glass that still lets plenty of light and warmth through. The two independently opening lids each have a prop so you can work without completely opening the cold frame and exposing your plants.

Excellent Value Stephen E on 4 April 2018

This a solidly made, simply designed cold frame that does exactly what I wanted. The screws for attaching walls to frame are too short, so I used longer decking screws of the same gauge, and I had to make a few extra glazing supports, as two split and four isn't enough any way, but on the whole I was very happy indeed

Good value, but a few small improvements needed colric on 26 December 2017

Construction fairly straightforward and finished product solid and looking good. A bit fiddly getting the lid supports to rest against timber, rather than the plastic glazing. The softwood clips for glazing split easily when screws are tightened, even when holes pre-drilled, and would be much better made from hardwood or plastic. Also 6 clips per pane needed rather than the 4 provided.

Does what it says on the tin DB on 16 November 2017

Turned up on time, takes a while to assemble but the parts all fit nicely and the instructions are clear, so I've seen a lot worse. Looks good once finished.

Needed 4 Hands!! stepper76 on 24 October 2017

Decided to buy this item as my old frame had come to the end of its days. Arrived promptly. Assembly was a struggle on my own but I managed eventually, it really needs 2 people. Unfortunately one of the clips broke when putting the screws in. Getting a replacement was impossible. Firstly I was sent 4 screws then a foot long piece of wood. I gave the item number and name to the customer service people but gave up after 2 attempts. I have adapted the wood to fit. A lovely item, looks good in situ and I'm looking forward to making full use of it next spring.
