The Genuine Article posted on 06/03/2011 Unlike some chain-store "cactus composts" (which often seem to be just cheap generic compost with a bit of grit and sand tossed in), this is the real high-quality peat/sand mix like that used by the trade for commercial Dutch cactus growing. Very few large "lumps" or "tangles" present: just a nice fine homogeneous medium. Note that this high-peat method of growing means that re-wetting totally dry compost (e.g. after winter rest period) can be problematic, and many expert recommend a more loamy mix: I personally use this Levington material as part of a mix with equal volumes of loam and grit.
